Trees can not be interacted with, with the exception of some hollow logs and tree stumps.Live trees are seen in full autumn color in pre-War Sanctuary Hills and post-War West Virginia.Parts of trees, such as hollow logs and stumps, can contain items. In other parts of the country, deciduous trees fill the landscape in abundance, such as in Zion Canyon and throughout Appalachia. There are many varieties of trees based on region, ranging from pines in high elevations such as Jacobstown to Joshua trees in the lower Mojave.
Before the war, in northern climates, moss grew on the shaded side of trees. While the Great War caused the death of innumerable trees, many still remain alive, either growing naturally or cultivated under artificial conditions, such as by utilization of the Garden of Eden Creation Kit or underground in vaults or within the Institute.
